Globe Secures $264M Loan to Expand 5G Network in the Philippines (26 Sept 2023)

 

Globe Telecom, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the Philippines, has taken out a $264 million loan from Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank) to finance its capital expenditures for fiscal year 2023. The loan will be used to fund the expansion of Globe's 5G network, as well as other general corporate requirements.

 

Globe Philippines Deploys 356 New 5G Sites (25 Sept 2023)

 

Globe has deployed 356 new 5G sites in the Philippines, bringing its total to 1,427. It has also expanded its 5G roaming service to 72 countries. Globe’s 5G network now covers 97.44% of the National Capital Region outdoors. Globe has also launched an eSIM service for prepaid users.

 

 

DITO scores USD3.9bn funding deal with banks (21 Sept 2023)
 

DITO Telecommunity Corporation, the third major telecom operator in the Philippines, has secured a USD3.9 billion loan from a consortium of banks to support its network expansion and debt refinancing. The loan is one of the largest long-term debt arranged and syndicated by a group of multinational banks for a Philippine corporation.

 

 

PLDT deploys FTTH to Samal island (21 Sept 2023)

 

PLDT, the largest telecommunications company in the Philippines, has deployed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services to the Island Garden City of Samal. This is part of PLDT's wider project to expand and enhance its integrated fixed-mobile network services across the country. The deployment of FTTH to Samal island is expected to boost the mobile network services of Smart Communications, PLDT's mobile division.

 

 

Axiata Tower Unit Completes Acquisition of PLDT Tower Assets (13 Sept 2023)

 

Axiata Tower Unit, the tower unit of Axiata Group, has completed the acquisition of 2,710 tower assets from PLDT, the largest telecommunications company in the Philippines. The deal is worth a total of PHP27.1 billion (USD518 million).

 

 

Globe Telecom taps Nokia for 5G expansion in the southern islands of the Philippines (31 Aug 2023)

 

Globe Telecom has partnered with Nokia to deploy Nokia's 5G infrastructure in the southern islands of the Philippines. The vendor's modular Interleaved Passive Active Antenna (IPAA+) supports all 5G frequency bands including 2.6 GHz. This solution will accelerate and simplify 4G and 5G rollouts while delivering network efficiency and performance.

 

 

Summit Telco and Xterra take stakes in DITO CME, the third major telecom operator in the Philippines (23 Aug 2023)

 

Summit Telecommunications, Inc. (Summit Telco) and Xterra Ventures Inc. (Xterra) have acquired a combined 10% stake in DITO CME Holdings, Inc. (DITO CME), the third major telecom operator in the Philippines. The deal is worth a total of PHP10 billion (USD189 million).
